Private by design
Nothing you write becomes training data - the major providers state in their API terms that data sent through the API is not used to train their models. How your text travels depends on the mode you pick; all three are described below.

Screen Context
Echoo can see what is on your screen, not just the text you typed. Reply to a thread and it reads the whole conversation. Ask about an error and it sees the code. You stop explaining the situation - it is already looking at it.
Memory
Commands learn from how you have used them, so the more you write with Echoo the more the output sounds like you and less like a chatbot. Available on Pro and Max only, because it runs on Echoo’s managed key.

Bring your own key (free)
The app calls the AI provider directly with your key. Echoo is not in the path and never sees your text.
Local models (free)
Run Ollama, LocalAI, or LiteLLM and your text never leaves the Mac at all. No network request goes out.
Free credits, Pro, and Max
The request routes through Echoo’s provider key so it works with zero setup. Echoo does not store the text of your commands or their responses - only usage counts and subscription status, to enforce your credit allowance.
BYOK and local modes are the ones an enterprise can approve: your text goes to a provider you already have a contract with, or never leaves the machine.

Who builds it
Echoo is a small independent product, founded in 2025 and operated from Israel. It started from a plain frustration: writing in a second language is slow, and every tool that promised to help wanted you to leave what you were doing, paste your text into a browser tab, and paste the result back. That round trip costs more than the writing.
So Echoo is deliberately small. It lives in the menu bar, it has no chat window, and the entire interface is a keyboard shortcut. If it ever needs a manual, it has failed.
Echoo is proprietary software. Its source is published on GitHub so anyone can inspect what the app does with their text - that is transparency, not an open source licence, and we would rather be precise about the difference than borrow the word.
