Every AI Model Echoo Supports in BYOK Mode (Updated for v1.0.8)
In BYOK mode, Echoo connects directly from your Mac to your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google account - no middleman, no markup. Here's the full model lineup as of v1.0.8.
What's new in v1.0.8
Echoo now offers a curated catalog of nine models: three choices from each provider, covering fast, balanced, and high-capability options.
- GPT-5.5 replaces GPT-5.4.
- Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Sonnet 5 replace Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.5.
- Gemini 3.1 Pro replaces Gemini 3 Pro, while older Gemini 2.5 options have been retired from the picker.
Commands configured with retired models are automatically migrated to the closest supported replacement - no setup needed.
OpenAI
- GPT-5.5 - the flagship option for nuanced writing, translation, and prompt engineering
- GPT-5.4 Mini - a balanced choice for everyday rewrites and summaries
- GPT-5.4 Nano - the fastest, lowest-cost option for short, simple commands
Anthropic
- Claude Opus 4.8 - the highest-capability Claude option for long or complex text
- Claude Sonnet 5 - a strong balance of quality and speed
- Claude Haiku 4.5 - fast and inexpensive, well suited to quick edits
Google Gemini
- Gemini 3.1 Pro - the high-capability Gemini option for complex tasks
- Gemini 3.6 Flash - a balanced option for heavier everyday work
- Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite - the fastest, lowest-cost Gemini option
Picking a model per command
Each command in Echoo (rewrite, summarize, translate, ask, or a custom command) can be assigned its own provider and model. A common pattern: use a fast, low-cost model for high-frequency commands like rewrite, and a top-tier model like GPT-5.5 or Claude Opus 4.8 for less frequent, higher-stakes commands like prompt engineering.
BYOK also covers local models through Ollama, LocalAI, and LiteLLM if you'd rather keep everything on-device. See our local LLM support post (opens in new tab) for details.
If you'd rather skip managing an API key entirely, the Managed Plan (opens in new tab) gives you 10 free credits with no key required.
