v0.11.1 Beta: Auto Select All & Voice Launcher Control Key
Auto Select All
The most requested quality-of-life improvement is here. Previously, to run an inline command like Rewrite on an entire document or text field, you had to press ⌘A first to select everything, then press your shortcut. Now Echoo handles that automatically.
When no text is selected, Echoo automatically selects all text in the active field before processing. Just place your cursor anywhere in the text and press your shortcut - Echoo does the rest.
This works with all inline commands: Rewrite, Translate, and any custom command set to inline behavior.
Voice Launcher Default Changed to Control
Starting with v0.11.1-beta, Voice Launcher defaults to the Control key (⌃) instead of Fn.
What Changed
The default hold-to-speak trigger for Voice Launcher is now the Control key. This provides a more ergonomic default that works consistently across all Mac keyboards, including external keyboards where the Fn key behavior can vary.
How It Works
- Hold the Control key (⌃) (or your configured shortcut)
- Say the command name - "rewrite", "summarize", "translate", "read aloud", or any custom command name
- Release the key - Echoo transcribes your voice locally using the Parakeet model, matches it to a command, and executes it
Want to Use Fn Instead?
You can switch back to Fn (or any other key) in Settings > Commands > Voice Launcher. The shortcut is fully customizable.
