AI translates
GPT-5.2 handles Arabic's root-and-pattern morphology, where a three-consonant root generates dozens of related forms that a word-for-word approach cannot reach.
Result appears inline
The Arabic is pasted back in place as right-to-left text, so it renders correctly even inside a left-to-right document.
Example Translation
English (Original)
We are excited to announce the opening of our new regional office in Dubai. All employees are invited to the launch event next week.
Arabic (Translated)
يسعدنا الإعلان عن افتتاح مكتبنا الإقليمي الجديد في دبي. جميع الموظفين مدعوون لحضور حفل الافتتاح الأسبوع المقبل.
Translating English to Arabic
Arabic is written right to left, which breaks naively in apps that assume left-to-right - text pastes in reversed or with punctuation stranded at the wrong end. Grammatically, Arabic builds words from three-consonant roots run through patterns: k-t-b gives kataba, kitāb, maktab, kātib. Reaching the right derived form is a morphological operation, not a lookup. Modern Standard Arabic is the written register everywhere, but nobody speaks it natively, and Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine and Maghrebi differ enough that a message in the wrong one reads as foreign. Arabic also marks duality separately from plural, a distinction English lost entirely. Written Arabic normally omits short-vowel diacritics, so context has to disambiguate words that are otherwise identical.
Recommended Setup
Best model for this pair
GPT-5.2 handles English to Arabic best in our testing. Any provider you have configured will work - this is the one to pick if you have a choice.
Voice dictation
Dictation is supported for English, so you can speak instead of typing and have the result translated in the same step.
Tips for Better Translations
Arabic is a right-to-left (RTL) language - Echoo outputs the text correctly and most Mac apps handle RTL rendering natively.
Specify Modern Standard Arabic (MSA/فصحى) or a dialect (Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine) in your command for appropriate output.
Arabic diacritics (tashkeel/harakat) are omitted by default for readability - add an instruction to include them if needed for educational content.
GPT-5.2 is recommended for Arabic due to its strong handling of Arabic morphology and root-pattern word formation.
