Translating English to Hindi

Hindi has three second-person forms - आप, तुम, तू - covering respect, familiarity and intimacy, and English you maps onto all three. The choice drives verb agreement, so it cannot be revised sentence by sentence without the text falling apart. Word order is subject-object-verb, and postpositions follow the noun where English puts prepositions in front. Devanagari script joins letters under a horizontal line and stacks consonant clusters into conjunct forms, which is why poorly rendered Hindi looks broken rather than merely wrong. Sentences end with a danda, ।, not a period. Everyday Hindi also blends with English constantly, so a translation that avoids all English loanwords reads more formally than the original intended.
